Frequently Asked Questions
Q. What exactly do I get when I purchase an album?
A. When purchasing an album, you download a ZIP file containing songs in MP3 format and cover art in either PDF or JPEG format.
Q. How many times can I download an album?
A. Once you purchase an album, it becomes available to download on your order status page. Once you start downloading an album, the link continue to remain active for another 24 hours. This will allow you to restart the download in case you run into any glitches. If something goes terribly wrong and cannot finish your download within this time period, let us know what went wrong and we'll reactivate your download.
Q. Will your music work with my MP3 player?
A. We use standard VBR (variable bit rate) MP3s. These work with almost every MP3 player in existence—including every iPod ever produced. If you have questions about a specific player, please contact us and we'll verify compatibility before your purchase.
Q. I'm an encoding geek. What quality are your MP3 files?
A. We encode our MP3s using the excellent LAME encoder, using the --alt-preset-standard option. This produces very high quality VBR (variable bite rate) MP3s with an average bit rate around 190 kbs.
Q. What is a ZIP file?
A. A ZIP file acts as a container or package for other files. It wraps up other files for easy transport. We distribute our albums in ZIP files so you only have to download one file from us, instead tediously downloading an album track-by-track.
Q. How can I open a ZIP file?
A. Computers running Windows XP or Mac OS X should open the files automatically. If you cannot open the files, please try one of these free utilities:
- 7-Zip - Windows 98, 2000, ME
- StuffIt Expander - Mac OS
